A Nice Cuppa

I’ve been on a growing Tea-trip for some time now. I’ve always liked tea, but I was really a coffee drinker. Then I got a stomach virus, and couldn’t drink coffee anymore.

I started drinking more and more tea. I even bought a book called “The Tea Companion,” which was not only informative, but also a surprisingly good read. I also have found several websites that sell really high quality tea. One of which is Adagio Tea. I really like that they show you the pictures of the tea, and their selection is really great.

I’ve been going to various tea houses, and Art’s been on the look-out for me, since he knows I like to go to them. Adagio Tea also runs the TeaMap site, which lets you find and read about tea houses all over the country. I’m not a fan of the fake-Victorian experience. Most of them really don’t do Victorian very well, so it becomes cheap lace and chintz dishes.

Of course, I also have the fantasy of running my own tea house someday. I have two different themes running through my head. One is “Tea-key” a Tiki/Polynesian Island tea house. The other is “Tea House Between the Worlds” a mystical tea house, featuring tea leaf readers and other fabulous things.

My mom even got me a “tea of the month” subscription for my birthday. The most interesting find from that, thus far, is cherry-scented Sencha. It’s actually a pretty tradtional flavoring of Japanese green tea. The scent is a little like cough syrup before you brew it, but once you brew a cup the cherry mellows and the flavor is quite good!
